Viking Link by MinishCapsLock Viking Link by MinishCapsLock
I wanted to make Link a viking on a viking style King of Red Lions, I got lazy with the shields though so this isn't technically done.

Oh well.

I took a photo with my camera I don't have a scanner big enough o.o

The piece itself is 18 x 24 in or 45.7 x 61 cm

This is a pretty cool redesign of these characters. I love how the King actually looks like a dragon which is awesome since dragons are always cool. And the water is beautifully done.
It's funny how you said you got lazy with the shields, because it looks complete at least to me anyway.

Thank you! I've done several different designs of the KoRL, this is just one of many. I feel since his a mash of different animals there are so many different ways he could look, The three shields to the left are lacking their main details but it would've been too tiny.

The piece itself is 18 x 24 in or 45.7 x 61 cm, but those wouldve been tiny still X(

No prob! Ah, ok! Shame they're missing detail, but I still think it looks fine.

There was another recent entry to the Zelda Redisigned group which depicted Zelda, Ganondorf and Link in a more Scandinavian mythology type light, this reminded me of that. I like the changes you came up with to make the King of Red Lions more Viking like. And you do wonderful work with watercolors (That is watercolors, right?) I like the waves in particular.

I just read Beowulf in school, so I've been interested lately in Norse/Scandinavian culture. Its interesting to compare a legendary hero like Beowulf (who is nothing like he is in the recent movie, just so you know) with modern but still "legendary" character like Link. I think Link is meant to be a successor to the epic heroes in the stories of the old world.

that'd be really interesting to see all of them in Scandinavian style. I'm half Sweidh and go there regularly so I thought throwing some of my heritage in LoZ would be cool. I might do zelda and Ganondorf (along with some characters in a similar fashion. i was considering doing Medli and some other members of the Rito tribe. I'm actually working on a Four Sword piece in this same style.

And yes this was done in watercolors, thank you very much! c:

Those little details barely catch my eye.  It's like it could actually be that way in the game.
